Reddit user Fighter2309 has found some very interesting news on a German Government website with regard to future development plans at Aerosoft. In a very public and non-exclusive document, it would appear that Aerosoft is working on an A321neo in addition to their previously announced A330neo.
The news comes from a document issued by the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate. The document indicates that Aerosoft has received a Government grant of €459,001 in order to develop the “AirbusNEO series as a DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator.”
The document also states that Aerosoft is to develop both the A330neo and A321neo in “as true to detail as possible as a 3D model.” The document highlights that this is to bring important onboard systems, a detailed cockpit, and sound effects to aircraft products using state-of-the-art tools. The grant is valid until the end of February 2025.
Whilst this is a Government document, it does not mean that this has been funded specifically for Government work, nor is it an indication of Government involvement. The grant comes from a much larger pool, whereby the German Government has been looking at the tech and video game industry to help boost the economy and reputation of game development in the country. €50 million has been given out in grants to over 400 companies all with the intention of developing or supporting the video game and tech industry within Germany.
We already know that Aerosoft had intentions of developing the A330neo after the A330 CEO (current engine option), which was recently shown to be in a heavy testing period. It remains to be seen when or how the A321neo fits into the schedule.
