Multiplayer Model Matching Released for Replacing Default Aircraft

A new freeware utility add-on released on flightsim.to aims to replace generic aircraft spawned into the sim for multiplayer.

We’ve all been there: you load up in the simulator and half of the people flying are doing so in an aircraft you don’t own. In turn, their aircraft are replaced with generic aircraft from MSFS. This model matching provided by MSFS is not always very accurate and realistic, replacing F-18’s with Bonanza’s or helicopters with pointy “A330’s”. Multiplayer Model Matching, or M3 for short, aims to solve this problem by allowing you to replace aircraft you don’t have installed by aircraft you do have installed. An example that the product page mentions is changing a Kitfox, a third party aircraft, with a DHC-2 Beaver, which is an aircraft included with MSFS’ 40th Anniversary Edition. This model matching provided by M3 can be customised to your own preference.

Furthermore, M3 also contains a database with aircraft ICAO designators. This should help with displaying aircraft that you do own, but are missing a third party livery for. These can otherwise also cause issues with MSFS’ default model matching system.

The M3 developers, users dannymalloy and flyndive, anticipate that their utility “should eliminate at least 90% of the generic multiplayer aircraft seen while playing MSFS”. M3 is available for free from flightsim.to./
